I won't be able to tell you that for sure until I've finished it, and as I never expect to finish it, then you're in for a particularly long wait. Soon, you might find some accounts of my travels; or extracts of my writing, both past and present. It might contain reviews of books that I have read recently. There may be information on where to find the best pubs and restaurants. On the other hand, this site could turn into a multimedia tutorial on the Java programming language with lots of links to sites that provide Java programming resources and other Java tutorials. It already includes several Technical Articles I have written - these are mainly on Web-related issues.

The thing to remember is: expect surprises! I know that I will.

If, as a consequence, this site seems a little disjointed, then that is probably because it is. Like the Internet itself, this site will always be a "Work In Progress", and as a consequence it will evolve in directions that even I am unaware of. Things that have been tossed in here because it seemed like a good idea may one day change out of all recognition, be moved to another part of the site, or disappear altogether.

The main reason why I created this site, however, is to illustrate the concepts of what I call Hand Crafted Software - that is, software created with the same care and attention that a craftsperson in wood, stone or ceramics would apply to her or his own particular craft. Although the content of the site may be an ever shifting target, the philosophy behind it won't be. To explain what I mean by Hand Crafted Software, I have prepared a few words about why I created this site in particular.

This site also provides a home page for the novelist John Bayliss, author of the Stringer novels.

So, what else will you find on this site at the moment? If you think you might like to offer me a job, then you will find my Curriculum Vitae here. You will also find a short introduction to meditation that I am in the process of writing, and some hints and tips on Creative Writing.

The menu above on the left will take you to the main pages.
